Welcome to the FIRST Robotics Team 1720: PhyXTgears website! We are located in Muncie, Indiana, and this year (2006) is our rookie year!!! We will be competing in the Boilermaker Regional at Purdue this year. Please have a look around; we hope you find our website useful and informative. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international robotics competition for highschoolers interested in the field of technology. Teams must design a robot to compete in a different game each year, first on a regional, and then (fingers crossed) on a national level. This year the basic idea of the game is to have the robot shoot balls through a high center goal and two low side goals. The teams then get a very hectic but rewarding six weeks to build their robot before it must be shipped to the regional hub (and hope the robot doesn't get completely wrecked in the shipping business.) FIRST hopes to increase and inspire students' interests in science and technology by providing a sports-like atmosphere to the building process.
